Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief Charity Fashion Show at Lakme Fashion Week
Supermodel Naomi Campbell and Hotelier Vikram Chatwal have joined forces to host 'Mai Mumbai,' a Fashion For Relief benefit on Saturday, March 28th during Lakme Fashion Week, to raise funds and awareness for Citizens For Justice and Peace, an organisation aiding the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) was formed by a group of Mumbai citizens including Alyque Padamsee, Javed Akhtar, Rahul Bose, to promote communal harmony and friendship between the people of India and to fund much needed ambulance services, trauma centers and community hospitals. Vikram Chatwal Hotels is one of the sponsors of CJP and has earmarked a grant of $20,000 to fund their work.
Fashion For Relief's 'Mai Mumbai' will bring together, on the catwalk, top international and national faces of fashion, Bollywood stars, athletes and prominent social and business leaders, all declaring that "Mumbai is open for business!"
The show features glamorous Indian inspired gowns by the world's most renowned and respected designers and top Indian designers including YSL, Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli, Isaac Mizrahi, Donna Karan, Ungaro, Matthew Williamson, Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Valetin Yudashkin, Anna Sui, Badgley Mischka, Nanette Lepore, Dennis Basso, Diane von Furstenberg and shoes by Manolo Blahnik.
Catwalk looks will be available for purchase at the event via a silent auction, and online on eBay with proceeds being used directly to support CJP's initiatives, in tribute to the 26/11 victims.
World-renowned model, Naomi Campbell created Fashion for Relief in 2005 to galvanized the fashion community to raise funds in times and places of need. Campbell who is also organizing the show in association with IMG Fashion, will be the showstopper for this first-ever benefit fashion show in Mumbai.
