Our first pick from the fashion conscious contributors to ‘Life in a Day’ project by Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald. This entry is about fashion editor & stylist Stevie Wilson who made a how-to video about using your wardrobe. She shows us the trends which she follows and talks about how we can use them through the day to create different looks, from work to a night out using the same garments. Stevie also takes the time to answer the 3 questions asked by Kevin Macdonald for the Life in a Day project.
An experienced, “with a twist” writer of fashion/beauty/ lifestyle, profiles, and fitness for regional, national and online magazines, Stevie Wilson’s writing persona ranges from “girl-talk” to authoritative. Her low-key yet incisive interviewing skill allows the subject to reveal the real person behind the image. Bestselling fiction writer, Lisa Glatt, stated that Stevie Wilson is a “gifted interviewer”. Celebrity events have a “you are there” presentation.
Stevie Wilson pioneered the “marriage” of the Web with traditional retail, by organizing online community events at Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys, Bloomingdales and Sephora stores.
As US Bureau Chief (2004-2005), Wilson launched Lucire, a leading fashion website, into print: hiring/supervising 10 writers; creating editorial calendar and more.
Formerly, Stevie was fashion editor for Orange Coast Magazine and executive editor for Fashiontribes.com. She is the creator of L.A. Story, a lifestyle blog covering West Coast fashion, beauty special events and profiles as well as a prolific freelance writer and savvy marketing consultant.
Soon after the first promotional video appeared, the ‘Life in a Day’ channel released video’s by professionals who were involved in the project. Like this one about the inspiration behind the project by Kevin Macdonald. I found this to be a rather fascinating! I knew the Nazi’s and the Communists had their intelligence agencies spying on people, but the Mass Observation Archive seemed to have been generated out of volunteer contributions. They asked people to keep a diary of their everyday life and received information which otherwise would have been lost. Because history books bends the truth and paints a story which is preferred by the people in power at that time.
Never before has their been such an opportunity to make people all over the world contribute to an archive that presents a moment in history. Which makes ‘Life in a Day’ a truly unique and amazing project, which will capture the world today for generations to come. And quit possibly will kick start change in the way the movie industry works. It is fascinating to think about what this movie will mean to the future. All I can say for sure is that I am proud to have been a part of this experiment and am looking forward to the premiere!
Life In A Day is a historic global experiment to create the world’s largest user-generated feature film: a documentary, shot in a single day, by regular people. On July 24, we had 24 hours to capture a glimpse of our life on camera. During the following 7 days we had the chance to upload our videos and submit them to Life in a Day through their YouTube account. The deadline was set on 23:59 of 31st of July. Now the selection process has started! The most compelling and distinctive footage will be edited into an experimental documentary film, executive produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald.
360Fashion reporter Yelena Myshko has been following the Life in a Day project on YouTube since the first promotional video appeared on July 6th. She participated in this historical event by filming a fashion/art performance which she played out with her friends in her studio on July 24th. All through the day Yelena was filming short clips of her activities. The performance itself was live streamed through the 360Fashion facebook application. To see all video’s simply click at ‘shows’ and scroll back to earlier entries.
In this short film I want to show two dresses and some of my t-shirt collection. The dress Renata wears, it’s from my first collection called “Somnis” (dreams), and the dress Sephora wears it’s from my new Collecion “Quan es posa fil a la música” (when you put thread to music) inspired in 20’s music. The t-shirts guys wear, it’s from my t-shirt collection called “entre línies” (between lines). When you’ll see the video, there’s a “mistake” in Renata shoes, it’s not a mistake, ‘cause it’s part of the story and I want to show how a dress can change with different shoes and have a good looking. It’s a dress you can wear with many styles of shoes. ENJOY IT!
Short film to introduce the “Gothika” dress, part of the “quan es posa fil a la música” collection and the new line t-shirts, part of the “entre líneas” (between lines) collection for men.
